When DIY Dog Grooming Goes Wrong

Ruby contemplates DIY dog grooming on Wordless Wedneday

When dog grooming becomes a failed craft project

Ruby doesn't notice she has a funny hair cut from home grooming on BlogPaws Wordless Wednesday

When DIY grooming goes wrong and your fur becomes a failed craft project

Every once in awhile my assistant gets the bright idea to save some money and groom me at home.

DIY is clearly not her thing.

You can read more about our DIY philosophy and epic fails here.

  1. you look super cute anyway...because you are always beautiful! the staff once groomed the foxterrier at home and it was a complete fail...not to mention the fail-fail as they went to a groomer what did only poodles and gave the poor pup a poodle-cut what was totally not terrier-fic :o)

  2. Mom grooms us at home, but for us it's just nail dremeling, and coat stripping so not much can go wrong. After a few months, things get out of hand and she has to take us in for a professional coat stripping.

  5. A year ago we had the Shelties groomed by a different groomer. It was horrible! They looked like they had done it themselves. They literally had chunks of hair missing. Bad; very bad. Never will I go back there. A good groomer is worth their weight in treats. Hugs.

  11. We ALWAYS have DIY grooming, so we have a few days of looking weird before SHE snips off all the sticky-out bits. So we're not going to say anything. But we think you look SWEET (as always.)

  14. I tried to trim/groom our golden retriever Moses myself, once. It was a complete disaster and I never tried it again!

  15. I get groomed at home ~ it saves us $60 and we have some quality time together even if I have a Scotty unibrow and a fluffy tail. Lee doesn't think I have to be perfect just a good boy! Once she took her last Scot to a new groomer only to pick him up looking like a poodle ~ now that is really freaky.
    Thanks for being a friend

  16. Aw, rats. That happened here recently too, but it involved a human and a set of clippers. No photos were taken, sadly. But we won't be trying that again anytime soon!

  23. We think you're beautiful, Ruby. It must be nice to have less fur weighing you down. Your comments reminded me of the times in middle school where my Mom demanded I let her cut my bangs to avoid paying for a haircut. One time ... yeah. One inch bangs were not in. I got pretty good at it though :)
