Think Spring #PetSmartGrooming

This post is sponsored by PetSmart® and the Blogpaws® Pet Influencer Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about PetSmart Grooming Salons, but we only share information that is relevant to our readers. PetSmart is not responsible for the content of this article.

Ruby is a dog that needs regular grooming, and yet sometimes I wait too long between grooming appointments (see above). Basically, I avoid anything that involves making phone calls.  I don’t like talking on the phone – text me and I will respond right away, but no guarantees with phone messages.  So when I discovered that I could book Ruby’s grooming appointment at PetSmart® online I was super excited. Not only can you book appointments online, you can also choose your favorite groomer, type of service, and sign up for text and email reminders. The online system is quick and easy and the text alerts are very helpful. Your pet’s information is also stored in the system so scheduling future appointments is a breeze. And the best part, no phone calls!

When we arrived for our grooming appointment, Ruby was a bit stressed and started her "shaky-dog, don’t-leave-me" routine. Both the salon receptionist as well as our groomer took time to comfort her (and us). Before she carried Ruby back, we discussed expectations – length, style, etc. Ruby has some autoimmune issues that cause inflammation inside her ears. We asked our groomer to just trim around her ears to avoid causing Ruby any discomfort.  She noted our concerns and did a great job working around Ruby’s problem areas.

professional dog grooming

PetSmart salon associates acquire annual safety certification and coursework in dog anatomy, signs of stress, and common medical conditions. Groomers also receive an additional 400 hours of hands-on training. Our groomer remained courteous, calm, and professional (even with me snapping pictures through the glass). I was pleasantly surprised how quickly Ruby seemed to relax and credit our groomer’s quiet and kind nature. Although pet parents are not allowed into the grooming area for safety reasons, there are glass windows and benches so that you can see your dog being groomed and they can also see you.

PetSmart Salons offer many different grooming packages. Ruby had the regular package as well as the Top Dog Plus add-on, which includes a premium brightening or low-shed oatmeal shampoo, milk bath conditioner, teeth brushing and breath freshener, nail grind, and a cologne spritz. Ruby looked, felt, and smelled great after her spa treatment. They also offer some fun final touches like temporary tattoos and feathers. Ruby decided to explore her inner poodle and chose the pink feather. PetSmart offers a "Look Great Guarantee," their promise to work with you until you are happy or it's free!

We were very pleased with the results of Ruby's grooming appointment. She looked and felt great and thanks to the professionalism and kind nature of our groomer, she remained calm and stress free throughout the whole process.
