As I mentioned in last Wednesday's post, we transitioned Ruby to a primarily raw diet because of her history as a rescue dog. The first half of her life was pretty rough and the odds are she didn't have a perfect diet. A nutritionally dense, raw diet seemed like a great option for her.
Although Ruby has done well on a raw diet, we soon discovered that she still craves variety so we now alternate between freeze-dried raw and high quality, grain free kibble.
When I discovered Nature's Variety Instinct® Raw Boost® Mixers, I was thrilled because it sounded like the perfect option for Ruby. Instinct Raw Boost Mixers make it super simple to add nutritionally dense raw food to your dog's dry kibble for optimal health and vitality. Ruby can enjoy the variety she craves, but still benefits from the pure animal protein and natural ingredients of a raw diet.
Instinct Raw is formulated to mirror your dog's ancestral diet, providing pure, grass fed, animal protein for lean muscles and strong bones, natural ingredients for optimal nutrient absorption, and beneficial oils for healthy skin and coat. Raw diets have many benefits including improved digestion, fewer allergies, and healthy weight maintenance.
Instinct Raw Boost Mixers also make meal preparation quick and super simple. Both my husband and I work 9-5 and when we come home we are all (humans and furry family members) exhausted and hungry. Raw Boost Mixers are a welcome time saver; simply add them as a topper to your dog's regular kibble and you are good to go. Although most nights Ruby gets freeze-dried raw, there are some nights when having a fast and easy alternative is a true life saver.
Raw Boost Mixers are also a great alternative for those who are a bit squeamish (myself included). The raw diet is based on the premise that it is natural for a dog to consume the entire animal – meat, bones, organs, and all. As a vegetarian, when I first started incorporating raw into Ruby's diet, I was really nervous about whether I could handle it or not.
I'm not sure what I expected or feared – maybe that the food would be more recognizable? But of course, it's not. The freeze-dried Raw Boost Mixers come in little nuggets and there’s no evidence of what it is or was. This probably sounds silly, but thought it was worth mentioning in case there are other vegetarians or squeamish folks considering making the switch.
Thanks to Nature's Variety for inviting Ruby to try Instinct Raw Boost Mixers. She loves them and we highly recommend this food to others looking for ways to include raw in their dog's diet.
