#ökocat The Natural Litter Choice

As we are always on the look out for earth friendly pet products, we were thrilled to receive samples of ökocat Natural Cat Litter to review. Rosie was too tuckered out from the holidays to participate much in this review, but would like the world to know that she highly recommends ökocat in spite of the look on her face. (Please note: she is not really floating in space, but rather, resting on a white blanket.)

ökocat natural formulas are made from reclaimed fallen timbers and unused lumber materials. They are free of chemicals, additives, and synthetic scents. They produce little to no airborne dust to irritate allergies or track through your home. The boxes are also lightweight so you won't throw your back out carrying it into the house (this has actually happened to me so lightweight litter is kind of a big deal.)

Healthy Pet generously provided us with three formulas: Natural Wood Clumping, Soft Step Clumping, and Pine. Rosie preferred the Natural Wood Clumping (pictured above). However, all three litters were incredibly absorbent, efficient and provided good odor control. Did I mention that they are also compostable and up to 100% biodegradable. Unlike clay litters which sit in landfills for years, these formulas degrade quickly and cleanly. Overall, we were very pleased with ökocat and grateful for the opportunity to try all three formulas.

  4. I love using natural litters for my kitties, so I'll definitely have to keep this one in mind! Also, I didn't realize your kitty's name is Rosie, the same name as my kitty who gained her angel wings back in May. It's a beautiful name, and your Rosie is a beautiful kitty!

  8. While I miss having a kitty, I DON'T miss cleaning out the litter every week. This brand makes it seem like less of a chore though so I'll have to try it if I ever get another one.

  9. That is a great idea for cat litter. When I had my cats, (years ago) there was only the dusty clay formulas and they were terrible.

  14. These look like great litters! It is cool that they are using non-clay materials. I haven't gotten my cats to like the idea as much as I do, but I think it is great to see these on the market. I love having choices.

  17. I had not heard of this litter. This is interesting. We like natural litters. One word of advice. Our Dad worked in housing for years. When you flush litter it will go down but sometimes it can get caught up with other things people shouldn't flush and back up the sewer pipes. Have a happy new hear

  18. We had a chance to review this product, too. My favorite part involved dust control. Popoki's big eyes get so irritated by clay powder. This stuff is different, and her eyes look so much better.
