DISEASE TO PLEASE

Poor Pip is busy trying to be all things to all people – good dog, smart dog, hot dog.  You see, like many dogs, Pip has a mean case of the disease to please.  Sometimes, it is just easier to ride the tide than fight the current – especially for a little dog who doesn’t know how to swim.

But Pip is tired and he wonders if there isn’t a better way?  Maybe there is more to life than this “tricks for treats” path to nowhere?  Where have his efforts to be “a good dog” gotten him – a tasteless dog treat, an occasional pat on the head, a snarky comment from Rosie “da boss” cat.

Enough is enough!  It is time to speak up for self-depreciating dogs everywhere.  No more boring car rides, needless trips to the vet, and no more costumes (Pip actually likes costumes, but the rest of you can give them up if you want)!  No more pleasing people there is just no pleasing!

4 Steps to Doggie Recovery
  1. I will not sit or stand or stay just because you tell me to – I am my own dog and will make my own decisions (unless you get mad at me and then I will fold like a house of cards)
  2. I will not keep quiet.  I am dog and I will bark if I want to bark.
  3. I will not be bought with a dog treat or pat on the head (a belly rub or turkey leg, maybe).
  4. I am not a bad dog or a good dog.  I am just a dog and that is enough.
Happy Dog Mantra
I am good enough, smart enough, and doggone it people like me.

  10. It isn't easy being our age is it, I have sponsored you sorry it isn't for more but I don't get a very big allowance as Mom is worried I would spend too much on pigs ears and treats. As I have diabetes and Cushings disease she worries a lot. Thank you for following me I have returned the favour and look forward to hearing all about your life .
